Hanover County has been conducting Meal Kit Distributions  at 2 locations,  Mechanicsville Elementary School and John Gandy Elementary school.   Times were  11am-1pm and 5pm to 7pm at both locations. Please check dates and times which can be found at  www.hanovercounty.gov .   For families/individuals in need of grocery items we have attached a calendar of Food Pantry Days of Operation, below. Please remember to call prior to accessing these resources to confirm details.  

 

            Please remember that all county offices are operational although practicing social distancing, staff is available by phone to assist as needed.

Following recommended guidelines during COVID-19 has been challenging for every community across our country.  Many individuals and families are experiencing the financial and emotional impacts of this unprecedented health crisis.  This may be the first time many have sought assistance.  Help is available.

Hanover residents that are facing Financial challenges are also reminded to apply for SNAP , TANF or Medicaid Benefits through Hanover Social Services.  For more information on these programs you may call the Social Services Call Center at 1-855-635-4370 or apply on line at www.Commonhelp.Virginia.Gov

The Hanover community is fortunate to have the support of a number local food pantries that provide food resources to families or individuals who are experiencing financial challenges, not only during the COVID-19 outbreak but all year long.  Because of social distancing and other CDC guidelines some pantries are temporarily suspending services.  Others have modified their schedules and procedures during this time  Attached is a calendar of local pantry operations.  Remember to call all pantries to confirm details before visiting.
